Stacy Theodossin - Healing Goddess

I am glad to hear that people found the information about Ayurveda interesting.  Some people are familiar with it and others are  just hearing about it for the first time..so it always poses the challenge of where do I start to tell my story.

I loved the speed round where people came up and introduced themselves and their businesses and products.  I know that helped me to pinpoint some folks that I wanted to talk with, and it helped me with my mingling after lunch. =)

Anyway, as I said on Saturday, going to networking events with people in similar or complimentary businesses is a great first step.  The next step is talking with the people that you want to meet, exchanging contact information and than following up with them.  The follow up is key!

When I attended The Better Me Luncheon in June, I knew that Dr. Beena Vesikar would be speaking about Ayurveda.  I was so excited to meet another person in the metro area that is involved with the practice of Ayurveda.  Ayurveda in the mid-west --  let alone Michigan, is rare.  I made sure to introduce myself after her talk.  She was excited to meet me as well.  Dr. Beena does consultations, herbs, and other Panchakarma or detoxifying therapies with her clients.  Ayurvedic Bodywork (my specialty), is part of the full treatment program that is usually recommended.  Dr. Beena was hoping to find someone that could do the Ayurvedic bodywork with her c lients.  I wanted to have someone to refer my clients to for Ayurvedic nutrition and herbs.

Initially we emailed and talked on the phone.  Next, I went to her office and we talked at length.  We also traded treatment sessions with each other.  The next step was referring clients back and forth to our respective offices.  Eventually we talked and decided that we wanted to try working in the same location.   I now have locations in Dearborn and Farmington.  For many years, I worked on site, full time,  at the Karmano's Cancer Treatment Center in Farmington Hills.   With all the changes at the DMC, there was no longer space available for alternative therapies, like mine, and I lost my office space there a couple of years ago.  I still go to that center a few times per year to work with their patients.  Howeve, it was tough to follow up since I no longer had an office there and I was working from my office in Dearborn.  So, my clients that live in that area, now have a new place to continue their service with me in close proximity.  And, they are now being introduced to Dr. Beena as well.

So, here we are just a few short months later and I now have rented a office in Farmington in the same location as Dr. Beena.  We are networking together.  I am also reconnecting with clients from the days that I worked full time at Karmano's   Between the two of us, we offer the full array of Ayurvedic Treatments from consultation, herbal and detox therapies, nutritional counseling, massages, steams, facials and other ancient healing and beauty treatments.
Our vision is to spread Ayurveda to Michigan.
We are off to a great start.  The rest, as they say, is history!!

Peace.  Stacy Theodossin
