Warm Hearts Organzation
Our main goal is to make the world a better place. We strive to fulfill needs, but also find a resource and match it to a recipient
Warm Hearts is a a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, established in 1996 by Carol Sharp with just a couple of friends that liked to sew. They started off making scarves and blankets at first, but then started to sew motivational statements onto the blankets. They have now grown to more than 20 volunteers reaching out to the community.
There main goal is to make the world a better place. To strive to fulfill needs, but also find a resource and match it to a recipient. Inspiring others is still the main focus of the group. Warms Hearts has donated thousands of blankets, hats, snowmobile scarves, coats, pillow cases, books and more.
They put on a yearly Baby Shower/Moms Work Shop, for expectant moms in need. Handmade diaper bags filled to over-flowing are given to each mom. Classes, taught by experts on such topics as breast feeding, nutrition, budgeting, positive child discipline and other relevant issues are also provided. Moms also have the opportunity to win other much needed baby items. The Baby shower will be Friday, September 16, 2011 in Highland Park, MI. support by the Infant Mortality Project. The Baby Shower/Moms Work Shop is open to Mom only, no babies and no men, registration starts at 9 am program starts at 10am -2:30pm for more information call 313-868-8420.
We are also involved in doing "Knowledge is Power" programs at several of the Salvation Army summer Day Camps. As a part of their participation in this program each child is given a towel or blanket with their first name and "Knowledge is Power" embroider on it with additional motivational sayings added as appropriate. The children also receive dictionaries, reading books and beanie babies.
One of the community groups they helped out this summer was the Motor City Summer Camp of Detroit, MI
